Scopus smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research get even better
Enhanced author searching
Author Search – This function will soon be enhanced with the introduction of an affiliation field where users can specify author affiliation data. This refines the users’ search as fewer authors with the same name will be retrieved.
Author Results Page – Refine results categories have been added to the author results page to enable users to limit their results according to: source title, subject area and the affiliation name, city and country. (note: this will follow together with the introduction of the affiliation field).
Author Details Page – This page has been refined in four ways:
- Source History has been added to the author details page to show the author’s publication history. The number of times the author has published in each title will also be shown.
- Affiliation History has been added to show the historic overview of the author’s affiliations.
- In the Subject Area field, Scopus will show only the top three subject areas relevant to the author, with an option to expand the list.
- A “Find unmatched authors” link has been added to the author details page, enabling users to group additional profiles. When this function is selected the user is presented with a list of authors to choose from. When users select the relevant authors they can be grouped.
Author Feedback – To improve the author feedback process, unmatched authors can be sent directly to the author feedback mailbox from the author details page. A new webpage field has been included in the author details page to encourage users to provide web page addresses that can help in the verification process.
Scopus Citation Tracker enhancements
To further empower users to perform their citation analysis effectively, users can now view up to 2,000 records instead of 1,000 within the citation tracker overview and request between 2,000-5,000 records to be sent to the user via email as a CSV file.
Scopus search improvement – instant abstract display
In response to users’ requests, Scopus now offers instant access to the abstract of an article directly on the search results page. The new “instant abstract display” will allow a quick “relevance” check and save time, since it bypasses the need to open a new window.
Now, each result will have a “Show Abstract” button on the search results page. After clicking here the abstract will fold out on the same page. The user can easily hide this abstract by clicking the original button which now says “Hide Abstract”.

Free preview pages
New free preview pages are designed to introduce Scopus to non-customers. IP authentication directs customers into Scopus and non-customers will get to the same page in preview format.
This means that visitors to an external site, like ScienceDirect or publisher sites, can now follow a link into Scopus. Preview pages show all buttons, links and information usually displayed in Scopus but are disabled, and are available for:
- Record page
- Various results pages
- Author details page
When a customer is not recognized through the IP check log-in, functionality on the preview page can be used by users with remote access.
Increased operability
Scopus now offers:
- Improved incoming URLs to further improve Scopus' inward linking capability
- Improved "view at publisher" link
